Complete Orchid Collection Update - September 2015


  Amesiella monticola - Growing a new leaf. Previous new leaf mostly eaten by bug.
  Bletilla striata - Outdoor growing orchids. No seed pods produced, but growth has been good.
  Brassia New Start - Vigorously growing four new growths. Lots of new roots. Seems to be adjusting to lava rock without major problems.
  Brassocatanthe Little Mermaid 'Janet' - buds in sheath swelling and looking to emerge soon.
  Bulbophyllum echinolabium - pushing two new growths or spikes, still undetermined.
  Bulbophyllum Lovely Elizabeth - One spike growing, about 2 cm in length
  Bulbophyllum medusae - ten spikes identified, swelling, 1.5 cm in length
Bulbophyllum rufinum - no spikes identified
  Cattleya rex seedlings - summer pseudobulbs completed, new roots sprouting and eyes swelling for new pseudobulbs. Pests have eaten a previous flush of new roots.
  Cypripedium Anna - next year's eye spotted, although this year's growth is dry and black.
  Maxillariella tenuifolia - pushing one or two new pseudobulbs per growth. Expected to double in size.
  Mormodia Jumbo World - This year's growth beginning to yellow from the lower leaves. Pseudobulbs swelling.
  Oncidium maculatum - newest pseudobulb mostly emerged, swelling. This growth is larger than last year's.
  Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Velvet Maroon' - Growing two spikes, one new pseudobulb approaching maturity with spike(s) expected, and two new growths.
  Oncidium Speckled Spire 'Wisp' - in bloom, with one new growth. Recently repotted into plastic pot with lava rock.
  Paphiopedilum Annabellchen 'Highjack' AM/AOS - two fans that appear to be approaching maturity. Buds expected within the next few months.
Paphiopedilum callosum - seedling. Leaves very pale, not much growth noted since obtaining the plant in July.
  Paphiopedilum gratrixianum - fan appears to be approaching maturity. one last leaf seems to be emerging. will it try to bloom, or begin a new fan?
  Paphiopedilum Hisae's Royal Duck - Appears to be growing normally.
Paphiopedilum Kolosand x Angel Hair - Appears to be growing normally.
  Paphiopedilum Magic Lantern - Appears to be growing normally. Leaves becoming longer and wider.
Paphiopedilum Michael Koopowitz - Appears to be growing normally.
  Paphiopedilum Odette's Vision - Fan in bud has fallen victim to bacterial soft rot. Three growths have been removed and repotted, with signs of rot still progressing. Old growths repotted in fresh medium after bathing in water with bleach. Many brown spots on leaves, but not sure if these are bacterial, fungal, or sunburn.
  Paphiopedilum Prime Child - Appears to be growing normally after three lovely blooms this summer.
  Paphiopedilum rothschildianum - Appears to be battling with bacterial rot. Have treated aggressively with ammonium chloride solution.
  Paphiopedilum villosum - fan appears to be approaching maturity.
Phalaenopsis [unknown miniature] "#8" - aerial roots have grown long. No signs of spike.
  Phalaenopsis [unknown] "Big White" - Pushing a new leaf after losing two leaves to sunburn.
  Phalaenopsis [unknown] "Kasey" - last year's spikes have grown new spikes or are budding.
  Phalaenopsis [unknown] "Lasting White" - working on its second new leaf this summer.
  Phalaenopsis [unknown] "Magenta Spray" - finishing a new leaf.
  Phalaenopsis [unknown] "Martin's Choice" - growing its second new leaf.
  Phalaenopsis [unknown] "Valentine" - growing its second new leaf.
  Phragmipedium Grande - infected with bacterial soft rot. entire plant and medium soaked in bleach water solution.
Stanhopea oculata - completing three new growths. Will any of them bloom?
Vanda (Neofinetia) falcata - two main growths, with two small new growths emerging.
Vanda Jiraprapa x V. Thierry Giorncel - lots of root growth and mature-looking leaves produced.
Vanda Kulwadee Fragrance 'Muke Pat' - CymMV+  - slower maturation, but still ample root growth. Not sure if it will come in this winter.
  Vanda [Pachara Delight?] - CymMV+ - Twelve (12) spikes identified so far. Five currently in bloom.
Vanda [unknown] "Steve" - CymMV+ - lots of root growth this summer. Looking for blooms this fall.
  Zygopetalum Bright Imagination 'Master Ian' - New growth pushing from newest pseudobulb. Green root tip spotted in clear pot. Suffered heat damage outside this summer.
